Product Description:

Provides descriptions, explanations, and examples of the Bayesian approach to statistics;demonstrating the utility of the Bayesian methods for analyzing real-world problems in the health sciences. Bayesian Biostatistics elucidates Bayesian methodology by presenting actual health-related data sets and performing data analyses begins by discussing Bayesian methods at an introductory level and proceeds to cover state-of-the-art techniques focuses on substantive medical and scientific questions uses modern, timesaving developments in computation recommends strategies to resolve current controversies in biostatistics and more!

Summary: nice book of example of how real problems in biostatistics are handled by the Bayesian approach
Rating: 5

Don Berry is a Professor of Statistics at the MD Anderson School of Medicine and Cancer Research Center at the Univerity of Texas in Houston and a strong advocate of the Bayesian approach in clinical trials and other medical and biostatistical applications. He has written elementary and advanced texts on Bayesian methods and is eloquent both as a speaker and author.

As editor of this book he has assembled a fine collection of articles that clearly demonstrate the practical value of the Bayesian approach to a wide variety of medical and other biological problems.

Summary: Pricey, but quicker than collecting articles by yourself
Rating: 4

Perhaps more appropriately titled _Examples in Bayesian Biostatistics_, this book is organized as a series of articles on the use of Bayesian methods in a variety of biostatistical settings. The benefit of this approach is that each article is written by experts who provide their own insights to the methodology presented. The downside is that each article is written by experts, who use slightly different notation, and exhibit varying degrees of ability to communicate their results (they are on the whole fairly good).
