Breakfast has always been a favorite meal of mine, and brunch is a brilliant invention. I loved the variety of dishes in this book. Many of them are perfectly suitable for dinners as well (frittatas, quiches, roasted veggies, etc.) The stuffed poblano peppers were a favorite for dinner. I made the zucchini spelt muffins, the jalapeno grits, the pumpkin pancakes, the "Red Flannel" hash, the dill frittata, the tomato rosemary scones, and the aforementioned stuffed peppers. The variety of tastes - sweet, savory, juices/smoothies, biscuits, etc. - really made this book a winner.

Summary: No more bacon & eggs!
Rating: 5

If you are tired of the conventional boring breakfast choices on the market this is the perfect solution. These recipes are delicious and the directions are clear and easy to follow. Lots of pictures too!

I purchased Veganomicon a couple of years ago when it first published. It has since become a staple cookbook in my kitchen. I confess to not being a strict vegan, however, and had never given much thought to brunch without eggs. This book has completely changed my mind about vegan brunch. The recipes are delicious and easy to make. Unlike Veganomicon, there are full color photos throughout. If you are a savory brunch lover like me, I highly recommend the Puttanesca Scramble and the Classic Broccoli Quiche. Yum!

Summary: A wide variety of recipes, all of them delicious...

I've made quite a few recipes from this book since I got it, and every one of them was great--I don't have to wonder how it'll turn out, like you do with some cookbooks. The table of contents lists a whole bunch of staples, then some more unusual brunch choices, and quite a few recipes that could fit into any meal. Especially recommended:

Basic Scrambled Tofu [easy and delicious]
Banana Flapjacks
Perfect Pancakes [aptly named!]
Peanut Butter Waffles
Italian Feast Sausages [so much easier than you'd think]
Lemon Poppy Seed Muffins

As usual, the book is well-organized and filled with helpful tips (one sidebar taught me how to make waffles), as well as color and charm. This may be my favorite of Isa's books so far!
