Purchasing the Good Housekeeping Cookbook, was a no brainer. As a young bride in 1965 and still today it is the most used cookbook on my shelf.
This new version was purchased for a young friend who will be married in the summer. I'm sure she will enjoy it as much as I have.
Summary: A little disappointed
Rating: 2
Since I have the first "Good Housekeeping Cookbook" I was very thrilled to see that they now have a new one, but for now I have not found as many great new recipe ideas as I hoped for. I still prefer their first cookbook.
Summary: Makes cooking fun
Rating: 5
This cookbook really should be in every kitchen. This isn't your grandmother's cookbook. The book is in full-color, the recipes are updated and modern, easy-to-follow, and they work. I made a delicious hollandaise sauce the other day and it was surprisingly easy. Last weekend I made a carrot cake, including the icing, and it was a big hit at my dinner party. Now, instead of thinking "Where will I go for dinner tonight," I think, "What can I make for dinner tonight." Do yourself a favor and add this great cookbook to your kitchen library.
Summary: Bad Binding
Rating: 2
The recipes are great, and layout of this cookbook is good, but the binding on the one we received was poor. The back half of the cover is held to the pages by one thin piece of paper, and that paper was already torn when we received the book.
